Jes was born and raised in Cwmbran, South Wales, and spent much of his teen years living in Hong Kong and travelling the world. It was during this time that he got his first taste of performing on stage.

At 18, he moved to Plymouth to study, found he liked it there, and stayed until his early thirties, working as a manager in the Student Union bar, thriving on the energy, positivity and optimism he found there.

After a brief stint of consultancy work in the private sector, he moved back to Wales working as a System's Administrator, Software Developer and then Development Architect in the public sector, where he stayed for nearly 20 years, and also achieved a Distinction in his MSc in Advanced IT. During that time he rediscovered the joy of the theatre and became a stalwart member of his local theatre, and became involved with various stage and media production companies in the South Wales area, as a performer, writer, director and sound designer. His highlight has been performing at the Minack Theatre in Cornwall in five different productions.
At the beginning of 2019 he made the life-changing decision to take up acting professionally, quit his job, and auditioned successfully with ALRA North to begin his MA in Professional Acting. He moved to Wigan in September 2019, with a head and heart full of optimism and discovery.
On the course, Jes has been exposed to techniques and practitioners that have developed and refined his natural skills, taking every opportunity to learn more about the craft he loves. Whether Acting for Camera with directors including Karen Henshaw, Graeme Hawley and Chris Cronin, acting in Projects with directors including Dermot Daly, Peter Machen and Helen Parry, exploring acting and Movement utilising Lecoq, Laban, Checkov and Stanislavski, developing his breath and voice using Linklater techniques, Jes has relished and absorbed everything thrown at him. He is now halfway through the course and looking forward to the challenges that the final academic and project terms bring.
